My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy: 3 Year Old Black non-neutered Male Lab 80 Pounds (Lab Rescue will coordinate his neuter)

Hi,
Boy do I have a story for you. My name is now Buddy but I'm not sure what it used to be. I've had a rough last few weeks but now I'm feeling like top dog. A few weeks ago, someone saw a truck stop, a man got out, pulled me out by my collar and sat me in the middle of the street and told me to stay and then took off. The neighbors saw this happen and tried to run after the truck but he got away. The house where I was "dumped" happened to belong to someone who loves Labs. I did not have a collar or any ID, nor did I have a microchip. No one was looking for me at the local shelters either. I don't know why someone, well for that matter anyone, wouldn't want me as I am one cool dude and such a good boy. The nice neighbors called Lab Rescue as they knew I would find my new forever home. Before I realized what was happening I was in the car and off I went on a fun road trip! Now I'm in this dog friendly house with a roof over my head, good food, lots of lovin', a backyard and a fun dog to play with.

What my Lab Rescue Rep has to say:

Buddy is a terrific dog who now responds to his name. He has a gorgeous black coat and was obviously someone's pet. He is a sweet boy who doesn't seem to have a mean bone in him. Before Lab Rescue was called, he was fostered in a home with two kids, ages 10 and 12 . His guardian angel where he was dropped off knew about Lab Rescue and that we would find him the right forever home. She said he was such a great dog she wanted to keep him but currently has another Lab who is ill and didn't feel it was right to cause her dog additional stress by bringing in another dog. Buddy is now in a loving foster home and playing with the foster's other Lab (another Lab Rescue dog.) He is housebroken and we are currently working on crate training. He knows sit, we are working on stay and he is really eager to learn. His foster Mom is working on teaching other commands and also leash manners. He is good with adults and kids but because of his size, we want any kids in the house to be 6 or older unless they are big dog savvy. We are unsure of cats. Buddy is eager to go on car rides and jumps right in and settles nicely in the car. He loves to be with his person and will take breaks to run and play with his Lab buddy. He follows me from room to room but once he's there he completely chills out. He sleeps on a dog bed next to the foster's bed all night. Buddy is already a great dog and anyone who adopts him will be very lucky. Lab Rescue wants someone around most of the day to provide him with consistent training, leadership, guidance and exercise (a tired dog is a good dog!) He needs his exercise but he is not a high-strug Lab and just the opposite - he is a mellow boy. He has the potential of being a great therapy dog. Buddy is a very special dog who, for whatever reason, was given a bum deal in being left on the street. He is such a good boy who only wants to please and is eager to learn. Lab Rescue wants a special family for this boy and his forever home.

Buddy has seen a vet and is healthy, is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is located in Redwood City.

If you are looking for a sweet, loving gentle boy and are around most of the day with time to provide adequate exercise, structure and guidance he needs to go on to be a good canine citizen, please call Rescue Rep Sandy @ 650 303-2436.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
