Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack may have a sad face but the truth is that he is a fun-loving, affectionate Basset who has never met a stranger. He does his own thing, in his own time and like most Bassets, Jack marches to his own drummer. Both Jack and Jill were found on a highway by an Animatch Volunteer. Lucky Jill has gone to her new home and now Jack is looking for his forever home. Jack will soon embark on a fight for his life which our Vet is confident that he will win. Jack tested positive for heartworm and in mid-August, he will have the first of three injections. He will remain at the hospital for a few days after treatment. Animatch is optimistic that he will tolerate the medication which is made up of harsh, arsenic-based, drugs that are hard on the system. After treatment, Jack must have limited exercise -- no walks, no running around. He must live the indoor life; a calm, easy-going environment is what he needs. Exercise increases heart rate and oxygen demand and we need the heart to rest during this recovery period. It would help Jack convalesce even faster if he was already in his own home. Although he was dealt a bad hand, he responds with love and forgiveness; Jack deserves to be happy for the remainder of his life. Happy endings are what keep us going and we are looking forward to an amazing conclusion to Jack’s story. If you would like to be part of Jack’s life, he would welcome you with a loud “Aroooooo”. Please fill in the Adoption Form.
Animatch will cover all costs for Jack’s heartworm treatments.
