My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Well hi there! My name is Kiwi and I am an adorable maltese cross. I was born October 12, 2012 and weigh about 12 lbs. Really I am the perfect size to be a lap dog, but I do love to play fetch, tug and tag around the house!

When I first came to New Hope, it took me a while to learn that people are kind and loving, but I am quickly learning to trust people and once I get to know you all I want are cuddles, love, and BELLY RUBS! Belly rubs and play time are my favourite! I am super loyal to my people and would love to just hang out with them all the time! Although, I am happy in my crate during the day where I hang out while my foster parents are at work. I am fine sleeping on the floor beside the bed at night, but hey, if you want to share your bed with me I sure would not complain! Did I mention I like a good cuddle?

I would do best in a home with lots of patience that will let me know what behavior is acceptable, as I am still learning to trust all humans and could use some guidance. The little people that I have been around don’t scare me like the big ones that come towering over me. I like licking little peoples fingers and toes which usually makes them giggle.

I love playing with all my dog friends. Play dates are awesome! So if you have a furry friend at home for me I would be cool with that, or else could you invite some friends over for me to play with sometimes? Pretty please! I could use a confident dog sister or brother that could show me the rope of the house and help me with my confidence.

I LOVE my walks or a good adventure at my foster grandparent’s farm. I just love going to the farm to visit all the dogs, especially Bear (he’s an Alaskan Malamute). He lets me jump on him, give him kisses and follow him around the yard. This spring we loved finding the ditch puddles together.

My foster mom and I are taking a beginner obedience class together and she says this should help me build my confidence. I would love a home that will keep working with me and help me get more comfortable with new humans. If you are patient with me, I promise I will not disappoint you!

So, if you think I might be a good fit for you, send us an application. I would love to have you over to my house to meet me, as long as you promise to give me a treat or 2 (or 10!)."
