Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Scout was rescued from the Antioch animal shelter along with his sibling, Fritz (who was adopted during the Maddie’s event). Scout is a miniature pincher / rat terrier mix. Anyone who is familiar with Min Pins know that they are best known for their great feats of agility – they are very “springy.” Scout is known to have scaled / jumped over 5 foot barriers to be with his human companions. He will need a yard with a tall fence. As with many dogs rescued from overcrowded, chaotic shelters, they often come out shy and scared, not sure what is happening.
After a couple of days, Scout realized that good things are ahead for him and he quickly acclimated to human affection – he loves cuddling and having his tummy rubbed. And he is becoming playful with his other doggy companions in his foster home. The foster home has a cat. Scout was initially curious and barked at her, but after a few easy corrections, he learned to leave the cat be, and all is well (he is a very quick learner). He has picked up quickly that the backyard is the place to poop and pee.
Scout will be initially cautious / shy around new people, but quickly warms up to his handlers.
Scout would do well in a very active environment, where he can get lots of exercise (horizontal and vertical). Another young energetic canine playmate would probably be a good fit. The foster family doesn’t have any young children, so we are unsure how he is with kids. Scout weighs 18 lbs. and is approximately 2-3 years old.
You may contact his foster dad, Rick, at 510-459-0396.
