My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spike: 1 yr. old, chocolate and rust neutered male, docked tail and natural ears; 10 lbs. Shots up-to-date. Micro-chipped. Rescued from shelter.

We are pleased to introduce Spike! He was found with his mother wandering around town when an animal control officer picked him up and took him to the shelter. No owner came forth to claim him, and since the shelter was overflowing with dogs, we were called to rescue him – thank God we did as he was scheduled for death row the next day. With one day left of life he received a reprieve and was brought into Minpin rescue – thank goodness as this is the greatest puppy ever!

Now a few words from Grateful Spike:
"Hello! My name is Spike and I love my name. Since no one wanted me at the shelter my self-confidence was low. So my foster family named me Spike. And I'm really coming out of my shell since I feel safe and loved in my new environment.
I am around 1 year old by most estimates as I am still teething and absolutely have puppy brain! Everything is new to me! That said, I am house broken using a dog door, walk on a leash, I’m crate trained, and play with all types of toys (I empty the toy basket daily, and love my kongs & nyla bones). I had a rough neuter: one of my testicles didn't descend all the way and I had a rather intrusive surgery to ensure I am not able to procreate. It hurt a lot! But it hasn't slowed me down. I’m a ball of fun, and now almost completely healed.
I have a small foster brother. Sometimes he likes to play with me- sometimes not. I do really enjoy playing fetch and running around. Then I nap. My foster family has been working with me on commands like sit, stay, fetch and down. They tell me I’m very smart – it’s easy stuff – I’d be a great agility dog! I am trying to keep them happy since they give me so much love and attention. At night I love to cling to a lap and watch TV – I am such a lap hog!!
I would like to live in a home with someone that has dog experience and has a lot of energy. I would do better with a family that has older children above the age of 11 that also have dog experience. I don’t want my ears pulled or to be snuck up on while my back is turned - no one really does. :) I love walks and also enjoy car rides. I’m used to coming to my foster Mom’s office and I love to meet new people.
Let me know if you would like me to be a part of your family – I would be an awesome addition!! You can email my agent, Catherine at thenorcalimps@yahoo.com. She can answer all of your questions. Thanks for checking me out you won’t regret it!"
Spike is located on the San Mateo County Coast and we will not fly this boy.
