My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TICO is a 2 year old black male who weighs 44 pounds (but should be 50-55 lbs). He's a very sweet boy in need of some direction :-) He was abandoned by his owners in a rural area when they moved. We are working to put some needed weight on him and also to work on his manners. He is a quick learner and eager to please. Poor guy has never had anyone work with him so he pulls some on leash and needs a bit of work on his manners but he loves people so much that he should learn quickly! Good with other dogs. He's approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (8/12): Tico is very very very happy dog and loves people. He's fine in the crate. At first he backed away from it but with a little encouragement he is doing just fine with it now! By the second day he was lying down with the door open so he likes his cave (covered top and sides with blankets for feeling of security). He will stay in there quietly overnight or if away for a few hours.

Tico is house trained and he goes to door or starts to move frantically about if he has to go out. He has not chewed or even tried to chew any furniture, shoes, etc. He follows his foster around the house, always wants to be in the room and next to you wherever you go. He loves people and starts to wag his tail if you just look at him.

He is a very very very very happy dog, tail is wagging nonstop. He loves peoples and he loves other dogs. Tico likes to wrestle with the two resident big labs and really likes run run/chase around the back yard with them at full speed. He has a high play drive and will chase tennis balls, and fetch or pull on rubber toys. He also enjoys human wrestling if you are willing but if not, he likes a good ear rub just as much. He chills just as well when his fosters are watching tv. He hangs out next to the sofa and sleeps.

Update (8/09): Tico is a very, very happy dog and loves people. He's fine in the crate and lets me know when he needs to go out. He does know basic commands but doesn't stay, because he's so excited to be with you. He does chill out lying on the carpet while we watch tv. He loves playing with our other rescue which gives him much needed exercise. Tico is sweet and is always happy to see you, his wagging tail never stops!

Update (7/28): Tico continues to learn and make great progress with this training. He's learning to walk nicely with his harness and we are now incorporating sit into everyday things like fetch and meal time. Tico also LOVES his crate. He will go lay down or take a nap in his crate if he's not getting attention from his humans or if he needs to rest. He goes in without a problem and sleeping quietly through the night.

Update (7/23): Tico is an active, happy two year old boy who loves to run and play fetch. He is very food and praise motivated, and is picking up on house rules quickly. Tico has learned to sit nicely next to the dishwasher instead of licking the dirty dishes and to sit or lay next to the table when his foster humans are eating, instead of with his head in their laps. He has never had training before so he will need a formal program to work on his manners, but in the mean time he is learning to Sit on request. Tico is house and crate trained!

Update (7/15): Tico has put on some weight and is very handsome. He is very sweet and affectionate and a stellar rider. He needs a little work on leash but is very responsive and wants to please. Tico loves other dogs and really loves to be with people - watch out for big sloppy kisses!

Update (7/08): Tico is getting better each day on leash. He responds well to correction and is very eager to please. He is putting on some much needed weight. He will make much more progress, I am sure once we can get him into a foster!
