Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gia led a very neglectful life full of cruelty before she was taken in to our care and her new found love of life is simply amazing to us! Like all of our rescue dogs, she was at once scheduled for euthanasia in a very high kill shelter. While we don't know every detail of her past, we do know that Gia suffered terribly at the hands of her former "owner".
She previously lived her life as a junkyard dog and just before we took her, Gia's ears had been recently cropped with scissors or a knife in a very painful home crop job. She suffered from a very severe ear infection in both ears along with the skin infection all over her body from hundreds of circular puncture marks. They were not bite marks, but perfectly round holes, very similar to what an ice pick would make :(
It took Gia months to heal and when she recovered, we knew that she needed to learn how to be normal, carefree dog and gain some confidence. We sent her to a trainer who runs a board and train program out of his home where she thrived. Gia has not only learned how to live in home successfully, but with other dogs, kids and even cats! Gia loves her daily walks and gets so excited to meet new people. In many ways, Gia sees the world through a puppy's eyes. Everything seems new to her and she looks at the world with such wonder. She is grateful each and everyday for her new life. We are honored to have been able to help such a wonderful dog that just needed someone to take a chance on her. We will be overjoyed and a little tearful to watch Gia drive away one day with her forever family. She is a very special dog and if you pick her, she will will be a devoted and loyal friend.
