My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 5/31/2014. Shawn continues to do well in his foster home. He is almost totally healed from his ACL surgery and is permitted to play with other dogs, run in the backyard and walk up to 2 mi. a day to stay buff. This past month, Shawn has met some young children that have visited his foster home and also met others throughout his daily walks. He has very appropriate greetings with them as he approaches them slowly with no jumping, just tail wagging. You can tell his confidence is building as he is not as worried riding in a car, going to meet and greets, being groomed and staying home by himself for longer periods of time. Recently, he has helped his foster Mom by going on home visits with her when she does meets potential Furry Friends adopters. Shawn will need a family that will be patient with him in adjusting to a new home, but he is worth the time!

Update 4/8/2014. Shawn is a 10-year-old, 50 lb, Beagle/Spaniel mix, surrendered by his former family through no fault of his own. He is a fine and distinguished gentleman, who enjoys spending time with his foster family of adults and dogs. Shawn is friendly, loving and enjoys walking through the neighborhood. Shawn loves to be with his people and finds comfort with other dogs as well. He especially feels comfortable with females, both the two-legged and four-legged varieties. He would do best when his family is home the majority of the day as he gets anxious when left alone for long periods of time. He is housetrained, has excellent house manners and barks very little. Shawn has healed very well from his surgery to repair his ACL and is progressing nicely according to the vet. He works hard at his physical therapy every day which currently is walking 15 min twice a day, doing 30 SITs/STANDs twice a day and also using the stairs in a controlled fashion. He should be done with his PT regimen by the end of April and back on 4 legs. Shawn is in excellent health and full of life. Please consider giving Shawn his new home where he will feel loved and safe through his senior years.
