My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sprite is an easy going young girl who loves everyone and who fits in well with whatever is going on in the home. She is a pup still at approximately 9 months but listens well and is very eager to please. She will need someone willing to continue her training but for all intents and purposes she is doing extremely well and will be a great addition to any family situation. Sprite currently weighs just under 35 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Sprite is a very loving and happy girl. She is very quiet in the home and her bark sounds more like a cough (because it’s so quiet). She loves to sit on people’s laps when she is invited. She has no interest in birds or cars driving by. She also doesn’t bark when people come to the door. When guests arrive, she showers them with lots of kisses and a wagging tail. Even though I’m home all day with her, I’ve been crating her for 4 – 6 hours through the day in case her new family has to leave the home regularly. She has been sleeping in bed with me and my 14 pound dog and she has proven she can go through the night (10 hours) with no accidents – as long as she is let out right before bed.

Sprite loves everyone. I’ve had her around babies, adult people, cats, other dogs (big and small – boys and girls). I took her to Pet Smart and she was friendly with everyone she met. I have a 15 year old son and an 8 year old son. She bonded with them quickly. Sprite is good with all animals. She is good to stand there and allow other dogs to smell her – she gets a little antsy when the other dog is continuously going back to smell her though. I feel like she’s saying “I DON’T SMELL ANY DIFFERENT THAN I DID 2 MINUTES AGO – ENOUGH ALREADY!” She isn’t very interested in smelling other animals. She pulls a LITTLE when meeting other dogs on a leash, but does listen to me when I say “AH AH”.

She sits well for treats and has no food aggression. I treat my 2 cats and small dog with her, she always waits her turn. She sits nice and lays down when asked for her reward. She is 40 pounds, very healthy and has great teeth. She doesn’t drool, all around she is very tidy. She has a moderate energy level. She is quiet in the home and happy to chew on a bone or toy. She does react to the energy in the home though. Sprite is low shedding. She is good in the bath and has a very soft coat, very shiny and I think it will only continue to get better.

Sprite loves to go for walks, chew bones, rawhides and loves to learn. She plays fetch, we’re working on the bringing the ball back part. She absolutely LOVES to snuggle and cuddle. She loves to run and is aware of her people even when she’s having fun on her own.

She is very smart and loves to please. Sprite and I have been working on sit, lay down and come. She is good to do all 3 when it’s treat time. She will not mess in her crate and has gone 10 hours through the night with no accidents in my room. Sprite crates beautifully. Throw a treat in there and she eats it and lies down for a snooze. Sprite is very leash trained. She is good to walk by your side and responds to a light tug. She sits nice at the door when she knows it’s time to go out. She sits for me to put her leash on, she doesn’t get underfoot or anxious. She waits for me and walks out with me – not in front of me. Sprite LOVES the car. She is good to sit in the back quietly on her own or in the front seat. She’s not interested in putting her face out of the window. She likes to lie down and is very quiet.

She barks when she plays and is barking when my dog barks (usually when someone is outside in the driveway. She seems like a bit of a follower, if you have a dog that is quiet, I think she will be quiet too. She goes with the flow of the household.

She would love a family with kids or a single person that would let her sleep in bed with them. She would do well in a house where she is the only pet or with other 4 legged family members. She travels well and is portable. I’ve brought her to friend’s homes with other dogs and she fits in quickly and doesn’t try to dominate. She loves to play with her people. If she is left too long on her own to chew a bone alone, she gets bored and will chew things she isn’t supposed to if she isn’t being watched. She loves to lay in the sun and is very relaxed and quiet on my 12x12 patio when we’re out together. She would be good with all kids that are dog friendly and can handle the occasional jump for love. She would be great as someone’s first dog. She will need some work on the chewing and jumping. If her new owner can be aware of her “signs”, I don’t expect any accidents in the house. She is very smart and has a thirst for knowledge and to please. She takes treats nicely with no nipping. I think she will settle into her forever home very quickly. She just loves everyone.

If you would like to make this sweet girl part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
