My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Socks is currently being kept indoors only, in a spare bedroom. She is a friendly cat that loves to be petted. She shows occasional signs of skittishness if approached too quickly or a hand reaches to pet her in a way she feels is too forthright.

Socks will need time and patience to trust a new home. It took her about 3 weeks to become more comfortable in her new foster home. Since she has become more comfortable, she comes and rubs and enjoys pets. She will even nibble fingers as though she is trying to nurse but then stops once she realizes nothing is coming out. In her previous home where she was born and enjoyed her first year and a half, she would sleep in the bed with her human companions.

Having grown up an indoor/outdoor kitten and cat and then losing her outdoor access it is only natural for her to have a slightly skittish nature. If she remains an indoor cat, she should adjust if given enough time and patience.

To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and either come to an adoption event or arrange to meet the cat in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
