My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET HERTA -

In Germany, all sweet girls are called Herta...it means 'of the Earth.' Please meet our sweet earthly Princess, HERTA. At just 12 weeks old, our little long haired, black and tan HERTA is super sweet and loving. You'll be practicing your German just to be able to say, "Ich liebe dich," or I love you. HERTA's previous human mom has just found out that she has to relocate and she cannot take HERTA with her. She has shared that HERTA is very smart, loving and fully of puppy energy and vibrancy. While she will need puppy training, she will give lots and lots of kisses in return to her new forever family. Are you that family who is willing to love this very special earthly princess?

NOTE FROM ODR, INC: If you’re looking for a newborn, long haired, black and tan, female Dachshund puppy, AKC (no papers) and just 12 weeks old, send your applications in. She has started her puppy shots, but is too young yet to be spayed, so you'll have to sign an agreement to do that when she reaches 5.5 months of age.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give HERTA a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
