My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Boy have I come a long way since I was rescued. Thought you would like to know a bit more about me now that I’m more settled in. I am not as timid anymore and I don't sleep in my crate. I sleep in my little foster brother's bed - right beside him! I love to cuddle with him. He's great!

I have gone camping and swimming! It was soooo much fun! My foster mom was a little worried about me being tied on a long lead leash (because that's the rules when you're camping) but I was just fine! I got tangled up when I followed my little foster brother. But someone untangled me (a lot). I was very happy and felt very safe. And people all around the campground came to visit me! And they all got to know me and my foster brothers and we loved the attention! We were the main attraction! I love, love, love attention!!! And I'm so cute and sweet that I always get lots of attention! I met a ton of really great kids when we were camping! I love them ALL! Sometimes I get super excited with little kids and I jump up to them. It's just to give them lots of kisses but I'm not allowed to jump up to kids' faces. So I'm learning not to do that. I first learned to swim wearing a life jacket. But the second camping trip I didn't use it and I was fine! I start paddling when I'm in someone's arms even before I get into the water. I just want to be sure that I'm ready when I go in to the water so I start paddling when I'm being held and carried into the water. People think it's funny. I just think it's safe!

I'm quickly discovering how great life is when you're in someone's lap! I love the safety and security of sitting in someone's lap! I am so darned cute that people naturally pick me up and cuddle me. I think they just know that I am a Prince!

We are still working on house training. I really love routine. I am getting very used to doing the same thing and going out at the same time. When I've had accidents, it's because my routine wasn't followed. We're still working on it but if someone wants to adopt me, they need to know that I really need to follow my routine. It's good for me!

My favourite time of the day is eating time! I get fed in the morning and at dinner hour. I do a crazy dance and run all around to tell everyone how excited I am to eat! I still prefer to run upstairs in my crate and eat there. Now I think it's just habit and you know how much I like routine!

I really need a small dog that is calm and well behaved. I've really bonded with my little foster brother so my foster mom thinks I need a small dog to help me continue to adjust to life. I also need a lot of cuddles!!! And a nice comfortable lap! Oh, I love naps in a lap! So if you are looking for a darling little dog and have a good natured buddy for me then I am your guy!

Hope to see you soon!!

Hi! Nice to meet you! My name is Little Prince but don’t let the “little” fool you! Even though I’m only about 10lbs I have a huge personality! And I’m cute as a button! I am a Toy Poodle/Terrier mix commonly called a Terripoo.
I was a stud dog in a puppy mill along with a bunch of other poodles and when we were no longer needed for making puppies, we abandoned in the country all by ourselves. We were found (yay!) and taken to a rural pound. We went to different rescues. I’m so happy to be experiencing new things and life and grass and walks in my foster home that I don’t even remember the first part of my life! I’ve never been a house dog before so there is a lot to learn and experience but my foster mom and my dog siblings are teaching me a lot!
I am about 5 years old. When I was found, my teeth were not very clean and I had a lot of matted fur. The vet cleaned up my teeth when she “fixed me” (what does THAT mean??) and some great spa place for animals cleaned up my fur and gave me a bath! (Thanks so much to Fur- Ever Loved Pet Salon in Kitchener for donating my grooming!!) I feel like a million bucks! I prance all around and that’s why my foster mom calls me Little Prince. I think it’s because I’m royalty…
I’m being fostered with a big dog and a little dog about my size. I like the big dog but I really LOVE the little dog! I follow him everywhere! When he chases around a thing called a ball I run too! I don’t know why we’re running but it’s so fun and exciting! Everything is new to me! I would love to be adopted by someone who has a little dog for me to be friends with. During the day, my mom crates the little dog and I together. We cuddle together. My rescuers feel that I need to go to a home with another gentle natured small dog so that I can bond with that dog as well and learn of off them. I like the security of having a good friend and I have adjusted very well in my foster home because I have a great little buddy.
I am crate trained and on the way to being house trained. I still need supervision when I’m in the house but I’m catching on quick. I have learned to go the bathroom when I’m out on walks so someone that will take me out a lot would be great. I don’t mess in my crate at all as I really like my crate. I go in there a lot just to hang out and watch things. When my foster mom isn’t in a room with a crate, I will go to a corner where I feel safe. I just like watching the world and feeling safe. As I gain more confidence and am more assured of my surroundings I will venture out more. But if you spent 5 years in a cage you would be a little unsure of wide open spaces too.
I am happy and joyful but when it’s time for me to come out of the crate, I get scared. My foster mom thinks that in my former life, it wasn’t a pleasant experience when I was taken out of the crate. All I need is a gentle lift out and then I’m fine. Kindness goes a long way with me.
I love, love, love going for walks with my foster brothers! I was never on a leash so I had to learn how to walk on a leash. My foster brothers taught me. I still zig zag a lot so my foster mom is trying to teach me how to walk straight. I just get soooo excited to see things! Especially the grass! When I see tall grass, I jump into it and roll and roll and roll in it. Then I lie in the grass and eat it. I love grass.
I love meeting other dogs and people on our walks, too. I am not afraid of big or small dogs. I never knew other dogs existed! They come in all shapes and sizes, too! My foster mom is trying to teach me how to not become so distracted by people, dogs, smells, grass, sounds and everything like that when we walk. But it’s so fun!
I am also being fostered with an animal my foster mom calls cats. There are two of them and I don’t pay any attention to them. Sometimes I will try to sniff them but they ignore me. I think they leave me alone because they know I am a Prince!
My foster mom says I’m as close to being a perfect dog as you can get! I don’t bark much at all. In fact, I don’t really make a lot of noise. I need to go for a couple of short walks a day. My coat will need regular brushing as it grows back and my teeth need to be cleaned regularly. I require a good dose of cuddles, too. I require someone to accept my kisses because I love to give kisses! That’s my way of saying that life is just so great now! I love to wake up from a nap outside and run to my foster mom in the garden and give her tons and tons of kisses!
I would be best suited for a home without small children. Older children are better suited for a little dog like me. I would love to have a little dog as a companion, too. I would like a small fenced backyard to roll and roll around in the grass. If you are looking for a perfect companion to love you and be happy to be around then please fill out an application! I would love to meet you!
