My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hale is a cutie pie! He originally came to WBCR as a puppy with his brother Helix– now he’s 8 months old and just a little itty bitty kiddo, maybe 25 pounds – all legs. Offspring of an accidental litter, their mother was a red merle BC and their father a blue merle Aussie. Known as “lethal whites”, merle-merle litters often have sight or vision problems, which is why these two pups came to us. Hale shows no issues with his hearing and may have just a slight vision issue in one eye – his pupil is slightly misshapen – but he behaves totally normally and is as lively and athletic as any other sheepdog!

Of the two brothers, Hale was the more sensitive and underconfident as a puppy, and continues to show these traits as a teenager. He can be reserved and even cautious meeting new people, although is a top notch snuggler with his familiar humans! He gets along really well with other dogs, although is somewhat initially careful. He loves loves loves to play with his canine foster sister and would really benefit from having an older, confident playful dog to live with, play with, and model off of. Hale also shares his foster home with 3 cats, although is not left alone with them unsupervised. He enjoys toys and a good game of fetch, but only if there is not another fetcher around. If so, he becomes the assistant and will chase the fetcher. His mom was supposedly a working dog and Hale does show, like many BCs, a lot of interest and excitement with movement. Given this, he is not a good choice for homes with kids. He has not been tested on livestock but boy are we curious! He is overall not a super high energy boy – probably more moderate, and will thrive with a reasonable amount of exercise daily, especially if some of this involves playing with his canine friends!

Hale is a housetrained, cratetrained, and familiar with the basics.

All in all, Hale is a delightful little chap who will thrive in the right circumstances. He will do best with a BC experienced owner who knows how to build confidence and offer guidance and boundaries for a dog. A home with a confident, well-adjusted and playful dog would be ideal. If you love the sound of a funny little sensitive young Border Collie filled with potential, Hale may be the one for you!

Hale is neutered, up to date on shots, and living in a loving foster home near Jackson, WY.
