My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY LISTING for Mary.

Hi, my name is Mary, and I love you. Well, I love to meet all humans, but will treat you like you are the most important person in the world. My current foster mom gets stopped on our walks constantly to be told, 'What a happy little dog.'

I am one absolutely adorable mixed breed with freckles that will melt your heart. I look bigger in my photos than I really am, I am a young girl with 23 lbs of pure love!

Because of all of the affection I have to give, I would prefer a home where someone can be with me a better part of the time, or take me with them. I'm happy just to be with you. I love playing with dogs at doggy daycare, but I'd prefer all the doggie attention while at home. I just want to be around you and show you love! Don't worry, you won't need any other dogs, because the love that I will develop for you will be more than enough.

I have great recall, am completely housetrained, and listen to my humans. I'm young and have a lot of untapped potential, so with a little more training I will be perfect. Because I am still learning my manners and not to jump, I would be best with older well mannered children.

I am a giddy, playful dog and after I've had some good exercise, I like nothing better than cuddling up beside you on the couch. Cuddles are my favorite.

Little is known about my origins, but my foster mom thinks that I was truly loved at one time. At some point though, I ended up a stray on the bad streets in Los Angeles, California and I struggled to survive. The volunteers at the animal shelter fell in love with me and networked to everyone trying to save me. My foster mom saved me just in the nick of time, and brought me up to Portland, Oregon to find me a forever loving home.

Upon arriving to Portland, I had to go to the hospital to redo, and then remove, my stitches, all the staff squealed with delight to see me again as I was the staff favorite (yes, I am that cute and loving!).

Through it all, I never gave up hope that the perfect humans would show me love, and while my foster mom is a wonderful lady, I sure would like to find my forever family! Are you the one(s)?

My adoption will require an application, home visit, and adoption fee to make sure that we find that right special person that I will forever give my unwaivering love to. Please contact Jacci Miratsky (pronounce Jackie) via email: JacciM@gmail.com or by cell phone 503 705 0040 for more information or an application.

...Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that I get a little bit too excited about and try to play with the cats on the street during our walks, so we think that I would do best in a home without cats.

This dog is not at Oregon Dachshund Rescue. For information please contact Jacci Miratsky at JacciM@gmail.com or by cell phone 503.705.0040 or Jenell at ODR, Inc. 503 313 3220, jrangan@comcast.net

ODR, INC. ADOPTION CRITERIA (aka Our Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.
