What a sweetheart! Lucy Lou is a joy to be around. She loves to snuggle and cuddle and be with people and other dogs. She is 8 years old, weighs about 20 pounds and is thought to be a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix. She’s tall for a Shih Tzu but definitely has the sweet temperament of a Shih Tzu. She’s interested in toys, looking out the window from the back of the couch, riding in the car, and laying and sitting in the grass. But her favorite pastime is lying in your lap.
Lucy was found in a Walmart parking lot and taken to a vet where she stayed for eight days, waiting for her owner to come and get her. When she went unclaimed, she came into rescue. When she left the veterinarian clinic, all of the staff members came up front to say goodbye to her! Her manners are excellent, she is house trained, and the only flaw is that she barks at cats. She is calm while being brushed and handled, and likes to give kisses. She sleeps through the night at the foot of her foster parents’ bed but occasionally wiggles her way up to spoon with the man of the house in the middle of the night. Lucy Lou will do best in a home where people are around much of the day. Like many Shih Tzus, she loves to be with her people. She greets everyone at the door, can go up and down stairs, and is just a sweetheart. She’s beginning to play with her foster family’s Shih Tzus and has a favorite toy that she continues to play with even after she wore out the squeaky part. She is learning to play fetch and loves the chasing part, but so far doesn’t get the part about bringing it back. She is unfazed with unfamiliar noises, takes things in stride and will be an excellent addition to a family, although we would prefer a home without very young children.
Lucy Lou is in good health, spayed, had a dental cleaning, is current on vaccinations and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $220.00 plus sales tax. Her foster mom would like her adopters to live within a reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities and they are also encouraged to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in June.
