My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GIRLY is an 8 year old black spayed female who weighs 75 pounds. She's a super sweet and healthy older gal. Her "owner" turned her in to the shelter because "she kept getting out of the pen" and we are so glad they did. She was an "indoor/outdoor" dog but spent a lot of time in a pen. Her front teeth are ground down from chewing on the fence as evidence of that. She is otherwise very healthy and has a great personality! She is good on leash, a wonderful rider and is keeping her run clean at the vet. She shows no sighs of slowing down anytime soon and loves to play. She is looking for a great owner to live out the rest of her life with! She's good with other dogs, but NO cats. She's approved for kids aged 10 and up.

Update (8/14): Girly is a sweetheart and loves getting attention from everyone she meets. She has great house manners. She is a low key girl who gets along well with the resident dogs. She eats well and has a very soft mouth. She enjoys playing the squeaky ball. She walks very nicely on a loose leash unless she sees little creatures which she would like to chase or humans to whom she wants to say hello. She is learning to sit when out on walks and look at us to distract her from this. She is a solid sleeper and lets us sleep in. Girly has a lot of energy for her age but she is a mellow girl overall. She should be leashed or in a fenced yard as otherwise she will take herself for a walk.

Update (8/08): Girly has settled in nicely and gets along beautifully with the resident labs. She has a happy personality and loves attention and to be with people. She likes her walks and walks easily on a loose leash. She is totally house-trained and likes to sleep in dog beds. She is not a fussy eater and doesn't gobble up her food. And, she likes to sleep in or get up and eat her breakfast then go back to bed! She has a very soft mouth and takes a variety of treats very gently. Her favorite toy is a squeaky ball that she carries around the house. She also likes to chew on deer antlers. She knows sit and come when she hears her name. It's hard to find any faults with this sweet girl because she is just so perfect!

Update (7/28): Girly is such a delight to foster! She is very well-mannered and sits for a treat without being asked. She doesn't jump up on anything, and she is a nice walking buddy. She does get excited when she sees other dogs or people on her walks, so a harness is a must. Girly adores belly rubs and can't wait to get some from her forever family!
