My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lean and long-legged, with soulful eyes, Timmy is a handsome dude who often gets admiring looks from the (human) ladies. If he were a human, he’d be Bradley Cooper. Or maybe Anderson Cooper. He’s friendly to people and other dogs. He’s also friendly and gets along well with the household cat. He’s moderately energetic, and is a good running or a jogging companion, willing to keep at your side at a moderate or even a brisk run. He also can be a mellow fellow, happy to hold down his end of the couch with his foster and the cat while they watch TV.

He is learning to walk well on a leash but he’s pretty manageable with a chest-clip style harness. Timmy likes his plush toys and his Kong, but he doesn’t tear them apart. Timmy is well house-trained and he’s done well being in a kennel during the work day. The kennel door open at other times and Timmy will sometimes get in the kennel on his own to chill out in his dog cave. The kennel in the bedroom, and at night when the family goes upstairs for bed, he gets in on his own and sleeps in it with the door open. Timmy responds to his name and “sit” and "get off" He can take no for an answer.

In short, he's sort of a strong, silent type, but with a vulnerable side. He sometimes seems a little sad, I think, because he wants to go home, to go to his forever home.

Timmy is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed.

All dogs are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday December 13, 2014, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
