Chico's Story...
"Hello, all of you nice dog-lovers! My name is CHICO, and I'm a seven-month-old Chihuahua mix who's top priority in life is finding someone who'll cuddle with me. I'm here at the shelter because my owner moved to an apartment that doesn't allow pets. While I'm sad about the whole thing, I feel confident that there's a loving person or family out there who's looking for a little guy just like me. I'm affectionate, gentle, and downright adorable. I have a beautiful chocolate-colored coat, and I'm quite portable. I get along well with everyone, so I'd be an excellent family pet, and I get along well with other dogs. The shelter staff isn't sure yet if I've been house trained, so I'll probably need some guidance when I get to my new home. Won't you please come visit me? I'm waiting for you at the El Cajon Animal Shelter, where they have a great play yard for us to spend some time together. I think that once you hold me in your arms, you'll never want to let me go. I bet I'm the snuggle-bug that you've been looking for all along! Love, Chico" Kennel #31

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chico, a El Cajon Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in El Cajon, or seeking a Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in El Cajon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Cajon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Cajon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Cajon paves the way for another one to be saved.
