Elvis was brought to a high-kill shelter after being picked up on the streets as a stray. Hard to believe, but nobody ever came looking for him.
Elvis went to the vet this morning to be neutered. The vet called an hour later to say they detected several pieces of buckshot inside him. They asked if they should do additional x-rays to see if there was more. By the time they were done, they had found over 45 pieces of buckshot scattered throughout his little body. Someone purposely shot Elvis. We’ll never understand how someone could do something like this to an innocent animal, but the important thing is the vet says he will be fine. They recommended the buckshot not be removed since it’s been there for awhile and he doesn't seem to have any issues from it.
Despite what Elvis has been through, he is an energetic little fellow. He's young, only about 8-10 months in age, and silly. He loves people and is good with other dogs. He's not completely housebroken yet, but walks on a leash and is a good eater. This adorable Silky Terrier mix weighs about 20 pounds.
