My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB July 10, 2011.

Pretty Pica, as her foster parents lovingly refer to her, is a beautiful dilute tortie whose coat colours of grey, cream, and light caramel are as lovely as any painted picture. This little girl came into foster care extremely nervous, anxious, and very wary about being paid attention to. It was obvious quite quickly that she had experienced some level of abuse or cruelty and that as a result her trust of people had been damaged. But fast forward to now and you would see a completely different kitty; one that is oh so playful (she loves lazer pen and pouncing on anything that moves including shoelaces!), inquisitive, confidant, and much more relaxed. She is completely taken with the goings on in the world outside and loves to sit in the window a great deal to take it all in and gaze intently at every bird and/or squirrel that enters her line of sight. We also discovered early on that she loves to be brushed and becomes so excited at the prospect that her purring can be heard clear across the room! She has begun to be abit more chatty and has the softest meow that sounds very kitten like when it does come out. She enjoys being where her foster parents are and although she doesn't yet feel comfortable enough to sit on laps, more and more frequently she will hop up to sit down beside them and has discovered the pleasure of being petted and having her chin scratched during these times.

Pica also enjoys her time to herself and isn't a demanding kitty in terms of attention. She does still experience some fear of loud noises and sudden movements and may likely be shy with people she doesn't know upon meeting them initially but given time to settle in and relax, she can and is an affectionate sweetie who will be a terrific friend. Given her sensitive nature, we believe that she would be happiest in a home without any other pets, no small children, and one that is a relatively quiet environment. She would be best suited to someone who is an experienced cat owner, someone that would be willing to be patient with her and respect her need to feel at home at her own pace.

In the words of her foster parents: "she is a precious little babygirl - one that they have grown to love very much and one that has so much love to give".
