MEET TOMMY 2 TONE -
TOMMY 2 TONE is just like his name implies; he is two-toned in color and very patriotic. He is a beautiful Red dapple with White socks and Blue eyes (Red, White and Blue - a regular Yankee Doodle Doxie). Our Patriotic puppy, TOMMY 2 TONE, is almost 5 months old and weighs only 6.9 lbs. His start to life was tough, but volunteers from Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. found him, love him and are helping him find his perfect, new forever home. Could that be yours? Could your family love and cherish a Red, White and Blue Yankee Doodle Doxie like TOMMY 2 TONE?
NOTE FROM ODR, INC: He has had his second round of puppy shots, had a full exam, including vibrantle and a flea treatment. TOMMY’s parents were Double Dapple Dachshunds and as a result, has about 25% vision loss. Because of the nature of his special needs, TOMMY 2 TONE needs to be adopted by a doxie savvy family, with older kids only and someone to stay at home with him. Even though he does have some special needs, TOMMY 2 TONE has huge amounts of potential. His hearing is fine, he is super sweet and just wants to be held all day with his head resting in the crook of your neck (Did I hear you say, ‘Awww’? ) While he is currently quiet, shy and a wee bit serious for someone so young, he is loving and affectionate and really wants to learn to play. Think you can teach him?
UPDATE FROM TOMMY 2 TONE's FOSTER FAMILY: TOMMY is independent, a great eater and loves to play. TOMMY would do well in a family with older children who are respectful and like to play. This would also need to be a dog family as he's not a fan of cats.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted with flea treatment, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
