My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coal: 9 Year Old Black Male Neutered Lab 80 Pounds

Hi,

My name is Coal and I have had a great life thus far. I have been very well loved and cared for by my previous owners. Dad had a hip and knees replaced and mom became legally blind. With a lot of tears and a call to Lab Rescue they surrendered me as they knew I needed a better more active life than what they could provide. I have been living in a wonderful foster home with a 3 year old Lab buddy.

Here's what my foster Mom has to say:

We've had many foster dogs for GGLRR and Coal is one of the sweetest boys ever! If you are looking for a sweet boy who gets along with everyone (humans (including kids) and canines) he is the dog for you. We take a morning walk with our own 3 year old Lab and then we go to our neighborhood park every evening for socialization and play time with lots of other dogs and people. Coal doesn't pull on the leash and walks right by your side. He will chase after the ball but is not obsessed with it but he loves a good game of tug of war with my dog. I've left both dogs alone for a few hours and there is no destruction of any kind when I return. He is learning some basic commands - sit, down, stay - and he waits at the door before we go out. He sleeps without a stir on his dog bed throughout the night. Coal is a dog with good energy and acts like a much younger dog. He's a happy dog who wants to have fun and play. No worries about your neighbors complaining - he is not a barker. He definitely loves to be with his human and loves to lean against your leg or lay down on your foot. He's a touchy feely kind of guy which is great for someone who is looking for a companion. He uses a dog door to go out to the yard to potty. Someone will be VERY lucky to have Coal for their buddy.

What Coal's Lab Rescue Rep has to say:

Coal is a wonderfully sweet, good dog with a gorgeous black coat. He has no issues with food or toy aggression. His previous owner said he loves to swim and retrieve sticks. He is good with kids although, unless big dog savvy, there should not be toddlers in the house because he could inadvertently knock them over. He follows his human so if you are looking for a dog to lay at your feet he is the dog for you. We want to adopt him out to a home that will be committed to regular walks and exercise. A basic obedience class would be beneficial as he wants to please and it will establish his new owner as the leader and develop a wonderful bond between them. He is good with other dogs and loves all people. We are unsure of cats.

Coal is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and blood work is normal. He is located in Mountain View.

If you are interested in this sweet, loving boy and can provide a loving home with daily exercise and be around to give him the love he deserves, please call Rescue Rep Sandy @ 650 303-2436.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
