My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This special boy has had a ruff start in life. Howie was seen living on the streets near some nurseries in deep south Dade. He was then seen a year later! Luckily we were able to get Howie to safety. His severe mange has made it so that he only has a little fur (but hey, less shedding, right?!) and his lack of human interaction has made it that Howie is very shy and cautious of new people. He will now allow the human touch on his head, sides and belly. However he cannot be walked on leash. Howie LOVES his crate or dog house so we think a nice yard with access to a cool, shady dog house or garage would be perfect. Howie is also fine with other dogs so maybe your yard is big enough for your current dog and Howie can have a friend? But he will not play with other dogs, he will just be a hang out buddy. Because of the lack of care Howie received his first year or so of life we can only guess at his age to be between 2-5 years old. We have a video that highlight's Howie's story. He came into our rescue in January of 2014. With lots of TLC from his amazing foster parents, Howie is now ready for a special place to call HOME! Howie is up to date with vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He was heartworm and mange positive but has been treated and is now off all his meds (thanks Dr. Greene and Homestead Animal Hospital). Just a couple of meals a day, a little belly rub, and a quiet place to relax would make the perfect home for Howie. Adopt@thisisthedog.com
