My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Won't you come home Bill Bailey, won't you come home...

That's exactly what this guy is trying to do...find a permanent home !

With the sweetest face, this guy is Velcro to your side. Loyal, and smart, Bailey has all that wrapped up into all of his 9 pounds of Maltese mix.

The family got bailey as a puppy and he was the center of attention. After a few years, the family had their first baby. Small children and small dogs aren't always the best combination. Bailey, who was once the center of attention, was not anymore. with the family. As the baby grew, Bailey's attention from the family lessened.
Bailey may have been able to share the family's love but he wasn't ready to share his bones. Bailey liked his bones and it's hard to explain that to little ones who just want to play and share their toys and love with someone their size.

So Bailey came to us.

Bailey's first day in the foster home was very good. He met 2 black labs who are very used to sharing everything in their toy box with other foster dogs. A warm bubble bath eased some of that stress that new foster dogs experience. A good walk with the pack and lights out ! Bailey had no problem sleeping comfortably on his new soft quilt in his crate.

It's possible to love a dog too much...too much hugging, kissing, cuddling for some dogs it can become irritating and they run from you instead of to you. Bailey is a meat-n-potatoes kind of a guy. He comes for breakfast, dinner and walking. Other then that...Bailey likes to just relax , walk around the yard and be with the other dogs. Bailey is coming out of his shell beautifully.
As you can see in one of his photos , Bailey is learning to swim in the lake and with that comes learning trust from his foster Mom to hold him and keep him safe.

Humans need to let Bailey come to them and move slow at first greeting. Previously Bailey was allowed to make up his own responses and not being corrected along the way, Bailey chose to keep people at a distance if he wanted to be left alone. Bailey's foster Mom is working with Bailey on this and is amazed at how fast Bailey is breaking old habits and learning trust.
Bailey is now waking his foster Mom up by standing on his back legs and just staring at her till her eyes open! He has found a place by her feet to relax and learning exercise, disciple and affection create a nice balance in his life.

Bailey is a 6 year old Maltese mix, 9 pounds, UTD on vaccinations, neutered, housebroken and micro chipped. If you would like to meet Bailey, we are taking applications now. Just send us a little something about yourself and your family and why Bailey would be the dog for you. Your email is your on-line app.
