Facts about Spitz

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: White (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 7254762
  • Hair: Short
Spitz is an amazing cat who desperately deserves a loving, caring home. She is a definite staff favorite here at the shelter. Spitz has been with Safe Harbor since she was a kitten, so she has grown up here. She even survived the clinic fire of '08, and still coughs occasionally from time to time because of the smoke inhalation, though she needs no additional medical care for it. Overall Spitz is a healthy girl but she has a delicate personality - she needs to get to know people before she can trust them. She favors women over men, but will learn to love anyone who shows her kindness and has the patience to help her come out of her shell. She is a very special girl and would be a much happier cat in a loving home, rather than the shelter environment. She gets along well with other animals but would probably prefer more one-on-one time with her new family/person if she is adopted. Please consider giving this very deserving sweetheart a forever home to call her own. Spitz is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, FIV/FeLV negative, and vet checked. If you're interested in adopting Spitz, please call Linda Dean in Adoptions at (561)747-5311 ext. 2.

About Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic and Ranch

About Our Shelter...

The Humane Society of Greater Jupiter/Tequesta d/b/a Furry Friends was founded in 1985 and was the second humane organization in the state of Florida to open a low-cost spay / neuter hospital. With between 7-10 million animals a year being killed in our nation’s shelters, Furry Friend's mission first and foremost has always been to reduce the over population of unwanted pets in our community. We do not believe that euthanasia is the answer to dealing with the pet over population crisis. Our charitable hospital offers low-cost spay / neuter services. We have sterilized over 75,000 animals over the past 24 years, preventing hundreds of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born and thousands more from being needlessly destroyed.

A few years after establishing the charitable hospital, Furry Friends opened one of the only true no-kill shelters in South Florida. The shelter reserves it’s space for animals who have been abused, neglected, injured and abandoned. We are a charity surviving on donations alone, and our capacity is limited. For the welfare of the resident animals, we cannot exceed our capacity. Cages are not vacated by routine euthanasia. They become available only through adoption.
