My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear is a courtesy listing who needs to find a Forever Home as soon as possible. He has already been through quite a lot through no fault of his own.

Originally adopted by a military family, his energy level became too difficult to manage with their busy schedules and the arrival of a new child. He went to go live with the parents of the initial owners in August of last year, and has been with them since in sunny California. They are currently seeking a new home for him because he is an outdoor, kennel dog at this time and deserves much more.

Due to being an outdoor animal right now, bringing him inside will take some housebreaking, but he seems to figure things out readily!

He lives with other dogs in the household currently, and is respectful of the smaller senior beagle mix he shares a home with. The other three dogs in the home are all smaller than him, and tell him off without ease if they don't like how energetic and bouncy he is being. He seems to read dog behavior queues very well.

Bear has been to two professional trainers, and did well with these classes despite being able to finish them because of health issues that occurred in the Foster's family.

Bear needs a LOT of exercise - at least 2 miles every morning of running. He is currently reliable off leash though this will need to be re-trained in a new home and environment, and therefore could make an amazing hiking companion. He also will take regular grooming to keep the snaggles out as his coat is a 'wooly' type, long, soft and easily matted.

Bear is current on all of his shots, and is up to date on flea-heartworm prevention. He was born in March 2013 and is just a little over a year old.
