My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Paisley is a stunning 2-3 year old 44 pound Australian shepherd sheltie mix who is currently in foster care while waiting for her forever home. Her story is a sad one....she was found in the ditch after being hit by a car. Paisley suffered a broken leg and a dislocated hip. Thanks to the generosity of Happy Hound adopters, friends and fosters, sufficient funds were raised for her to have orthopedic surgery. She has recovered wonderfully and gets along very well with walking. Paisley is the sweetest girl and is always lifting her paw to hold hands. She is completely housetrained and does not need to be crated while home alone. She loves to sleep in her foster kid's room and does very well sleeping right through the night. Paisley is now afraid of cars, so we are looking for a quiet, country home with a fenced yard and very little traffic. She does enjoy going for walks, but isn't going to do well if many cars go by. She would love a home with older kids or no kids and is ok with other dogs. Paisley would be thrilled to have someone around a lot during the day. She wants nothing more than to be someone's best friend. Paisley is really a very special dog and deserves a special home. She is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue. Her adoption fee is $350 to cover part of her vet costs. She is spayed, current on all vaccines, is heartworm negative and on prevention for heartworms and fleas/ticks, and has a HomeAgain microchip.
