Hi there. My name is Malakai. I am about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs.
I was brought in to the pound by the Salem Police Department. My owner was out of town and someone was supposed to be looking after me. I had ended up jumping out of a window that was left open. The police came out and I was running. They caught me and called my owner, who then called the person watching me to come get me and let me back in. Within 5 minutes, I was back out again through another window that had been left open. At that point, it had become apparent that the people were incapable of keeping me contained inside the house, so they contacted the pound so they could take me in to the pound.
The pound made contact with my owner about a week or so after I arrived here at the pound. She said that she had a tight work schedule but she was going to try to get here to pick me up as soon as she could... To make a long story short, she still hasn't came to get me yet so now I am looking for my new home.
I am a very sweet and loving dog with all of the people I have met here at the pound. I even met a family with small children and I did just fine with them too!
I get along well with most of the other dogs I meet here at the pound. I really love to play with other dogs. I need a sturdy playmate though 'cause I am kind of a big ol' beefcake. I wouldn't mean to hurt the other dogs when I play, but I do get a little bit rowdy sometimes.
I seem to be house trained. I do great in my kennel and I have only had one or two accidents since I have been here at the pound.
I do need a home committed to training me a little bit better to help me become the best dog I can possibly be. I do know how to sit, but aside from that, I do still need more training and manners. I need to learn not to jump up on things. I could also use basic obedience.
I will need to be walked on a leash or tied up when I am let outside to use the bathroom. I will jump fences when I am alone.
Other than just needing some manners, I am a very good boy! Please consider adopting me!
I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer.
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER JULY 9, 2014 .
HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS.
MY ADOPTION FEE IS $110 CASH, WHICH COVERS MY NEUTER SURGERY (WHICH MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ME LEAVING THE SHELTER), MY PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, DEWORMING AND MY CURRENT OHIO DOG LICENSE WHICH WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO.
THE POUND IS OPEN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 8 AM- 4 PM AND SATURDAY FROM 9 AM- 12 PM. WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS.
