My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’m Taco and love to talk, whistle, and chortle! I love to chime in on conversation and when you pause I say, “Yeah!” But when I get really excited I say things like Wow, wow, wow!, good birrrd, good girrrl, and hmmm? Most of what I say doesn’t make any sense but every morning and evening I will have conversations with you. I’m still surprising my foster mom with new words!
I’m not super cuddly but love a good head rub in the mornings and evenings before bed. When I feel really loving I will grasp your finger in my foot and sweetly mouth it. I’m happiest when learning tricks, eating food, watching squirrels, eating food, playing with pinecones, eating food, chewing on paper, and foraging (this involves food!) I am a great eater and am always on the lookout for a tasty morsel. I eat very, very healthy and I eat all of my pellets, forage for my veggies and fruit, and learn new behaviors for my chopped nuts, but I haven’t always had it so good.
I came from a home with other birds that were not taken care of and my behavior was so bad that I was considered to be placed into a sanctuary. Because I wasn’t being so nice to people FPR gave me a second chance and sent me to a really nice lady that gave me lots of little treats when I did things she liked seeing. She never pushed me to do anything I didn’t want to do and always let me make my own choices. I’ve been told that I’m a smart bird because I’ve been taught how to step up nicely, wave both of my feet, turn around, hang upside-down on cue, and I’m starting to learn the hokey-pokey, but really it’s all thanks to my mom taking baby steps and being so nice to me! I now know that there are some really nice people out there and I have been well behaved with all of my visitors. Won’t you come meet me too?
