My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet Princess Marley has been diagnosed with Wobbler's Syndrome. Marley is such a lovely girl, who is a Blue Merle Great Dane, who is only 16 months old. What is Wobbler's you ask?

Fact is that Great Danes, regal as they are, tend to lack coordination at times, especially during the first year when they're growing like crazy. And since in Danes, Wobblers more commonly first shows with young pups and juveniles, normal, clumsy Dane coordination can certainly cause a Wobblers scare.

Wobblers Syndrome is a disease that affects many breeds yet is most commonly seen in Great Danes and Doberman Pinschers. Symptoms are similar in both breeds and include lethargy, lameness, or weakness in the rear legs, loss of balance and coordination, and pain typically in the area of the neck.

A dog with advanced Wobblers disease will have a difficult time walking and maintaining balance, hence the word "Wobblers" was used to name this condition.

Dogs can be treated medically or surgically. Medical management usually consists on the use of anti-inflammatory drugs (steroidals or non-steroidals) with restricted activity. Because they have a neck problem, neck leashes should not be used, and a chest harness is strongly recommended.

Princess Marley has started her steroids and a pain management program, along with a treatment plan of strength exercise routine and walking.

Marley is now available for adoption, her pain is being managed with medication, and she leads as fairly normal life, just needs a few more naps than others. Marley has been spayed, is current on her shots, including rabies and Bordetella, has been micro-chipped, heartworm negative and has been started on flea and heartworm prevention.

Marley's adoption donation is $250.00
All of our Royal's are spayed or neutered, brought current on all shots, including rabies and bordetella, heartworm tested, wormed, receive a dental is needed and micro-chipped.
