My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Konrad is a 1 year old 60 lb male Great Dane Mix. We are also thinking maybe he has a little Boxer in him as well. To sum it up Konrad is a big, lovable guy who has been a model citizen so far. Konrad is a great looking brindle colored male just waiting for a permanent home to call his own. He was a stray in Indiana and was held at a shelter but fortunately we were able to get him out of the Indiana shelter life and began fostering him on August 25th. As you can see he's taken a liking to the recliner and sofa. Just look at those pictures of this guy.

His first couple of days were about as good as could be expected and Konrad has adjusted well in the few days we've had him. He explored the house his first day and has settled in nicely ever since. He also has a great personality and temperament. Over the last couple of days Konrad has started playing with a rope, balls and nylabone. Konrad has already learned the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have him sit before we feed him. He doesn't beg while we are at the dinner table and leaves you alone. We have a shepherd mix of our own and one other foster dog. Konrad has had no issues either eating, playing or just being around them. So whether Konrad will be your only dog or will be an additional pet I'm sure he will do great in either situation.

Konrad is young and doesn't really know any commands and we would recommend training classes for him. He has learned sit while waiting for his food so I'm sure he would be receptive to learning other commands. We have been on a few walks with Konrad and he did well on a leash, especially for being such a big guy. Konrad currently sleeps in his crate at night and once he's in there he doesn't make a peep. He doesn't really want to go in there but doesn't put up a fight either. Konrad appears to be potty trained and hasn't had an accident in the house, but as with all new dogs we keep an eye on him and make sure he learns to go outside. He has held it all night without a problem in his crate and during the day while we are gone and will just have to learn the routine at your house. Basically all Konrad wants is to be loved, played with and pet. He doesn't demand a lot of attention and settles down nicely and is content just laying on the floor or couch (lol).

I would say Konrad has a medium level of energy since he's only 1 year old and would do great in just about any type of home but certainly needs to be walked and/or played with since he is young and large. He certainly enjoys the outdoors and roaming around our backyard. Konrad gets excited to meet you at first and the nice part is that he really isn't a jumper since he is so tall to begin with. This handsome guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. His adoption fee is $200.
