Hi, my name is Maddox. I am a 6 year old neutered male. I am a big boy that loves to play with balls! I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have a ball in my mouth to chew on and chase! I also like other toys especially ones that squeak but I see it as a challenge to see how quick I can tear them up. These toy companies should hire me as a toy tester to see if their toys are durable enough for German Shepherds! I am learning how to play with other dogs and I do have lots of fun playing, wrestling and chasing. But sometimes, I just want to play ball with my foster mom or lay on the grass with my ball while the other dogs run around me. The commands I know really well are sit, down and wait. I am house trained and crate trained though I really like to just hang out in the house rather than my crate. I have let myself out of my crate before much to my foster mom’s surprise so she got me a nice big crate that I’m more comfortable in. It’s pretty strong too so I haven’t yet figured out how to let myself out of that one! I’m pretty good on a leash but I get really excited when I see other dogs. I know I’m not supposed to but I can’t help it. I’m not a big fan of small dogs either, I really prefer dogs at least the size of my former foster sister Sammie. Despite my past, I know that there are still good people out there so I love easily and bond strongly with my family. I love my foster mom a lot so I really miss her when she is not home. My foster mom calls it separation anxiety but I call it love!

I am a very smart Shepherd so I need a forever family that knows all about German Shepherds and will be a good strong pack leader. I will thrive in a home where I am given direction, positive reinforcement and of course, lots of love! Also, I need to be in a home where I am the only pet. If you are dedicated to me and to continuing my training to help me become a well-behaved Shepherd, I will be loyal to you for the rest of my life! If we sound like a good match, fill out the adoption application because I can’t wait to meet you!

About German Shepherd Safe Haven

About Our Rescue Group...

German Shepherd Safe Haven, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Public Charity dedicated to finding loving forever homes for abandoned German Shepherds. Our main goal is to rescue, train, rehabilitate, and re-home German Shepherds from shelter environments and from owner surrenders. Our secondary goal is to provide education to the public on the temperament, personality, and life span of the breed, as well as the importance for owners to spay and neuter their dogs. We believe that matching each dog’s temperament and personality to a family’s needs is fundamental to creating life-long relationships where the dog is not just a dog, but a valued member of the family.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process helps us match each dog's temperament and personality to the adoptive family's needs. Our goal is to place our dogs in permanent, loving homes where the dog is a valued member of the family.

*** If you are interested in adopting a dog, the first step is to fill out an Adoption Application.***

After receiving your application, we will review it and follow up with a phone call. If your family is a good fit for our dogs, we will arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) you are interested in. Following a successful meet and greet, a reference check as well as a home inspection will be done to ensure your home is ready for a dog. Please note that if you are renting, your landlord must complete and sign the Landlord Consent form. Once your home is approved, you need to sign our Adoption Agreement and pay the associated adoption fee prior to welcoming the dog into your home.

Please note: The Adoption Process from start to finish could take from 1 to 4 weeks.
