My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gorgeous Milana, a golden ret mix came into the shelter as a “stray”, but it was clear that this 5 year old beauty was someone’s gentle and loving pet. She was lucky enough to find a foster home where she is thriving and enjoying playing with her foster siblings.

The phrase “good dog” was made for Milana. At 5 years old, she’s still young and sprightly, but the rough edges of puppyhood have been buffed as smooth as her silky coat and you simply couldn’t find a prettier or gentler companion.
Milana’s foster parents tell us:
.”Her breed is something of a mystery since she doesn't have any predominant characteristics of a specific breed. The shelter thought she had some Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever. We tend to agree due to the beautiful colors in her coat which could come from the Golden but is short and low maintenance like a Lab..
We call her our 'easy dog' because she is so sociable with people of all ages and with all the dogs she has met. She has been 100% house trained since her first day with us and hasn't chewed on anything but a dog toy, Milana has a nice medium energy level, always up for a vigorous play session but perfectly content to just hang out with her people in the house.
Milana has a desire to please her people, is highly treat motivated, and learns new things quickly. In the short time she has been with us she has already learned to stay, go to her place, and to walk nicely on the leash. In her, we see a wonderful companion who has the potential to succeed in obedience work or a possibility to become a therapy dog.
The thing Milana wants the most is human companionship. She also seems to prefer to be inside the house rather than out in the yard and has shown zero inclination to door dash. Up until recently, she acted like she was going to be punished if she went on a piece of furniture. She has figured out that it is allowed here as in the picture of her taking an afternoon nap.”
Milana is spayed, up to date on shots and micrchipped. If you’d like to meet this darling girl, please contact AmsterDog at 917 689 8414 or fill out our online application at http://amsterdog.org/adoptionfoster-application/
