My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION

MEET JAGGER....who is an old soul, with human eyes and a heart of gold. When he arrived at LHH, this tri colored, 1.5-2 yrs old, exceptionally gorgeous Lhasa Apso mix was only 9.2 lbs. He was emaciated. He was set to be euthanized at the Orange County Shelter, as they said he was aggressive -- but this boy doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He was sick. He was terrified...and abused...but not in the least bit aggressive. A typical Lhasa weighs 14-20 lbs....but Jagger was suffering from an absorption disorder which was not being treated. When we first picked him up, you could hardly touch him -- he was that afraid. Two days out of the shelter and in a loving home, he is following his foster mom everywhere. We have been treating him for 3 weeks and he is up to 12.4 lbs and climbing!! Jagger loves to hug you and hold on tight. When he looks at you with those human eyes...he can see right thru you. Now that he is being treated -- he is regaining his strength and confidence, and he has a cute skip to his step!! Jagger has the funniest "cousin IT" voice he uses when he wants to be fed or wants your attention!! When it is time for meals...he dives in with a zest that is a joy to watch. Jagger LOVES his treats and he is very food motivated!! As he gets healthier, his personality is blossoming and it is wonderful to see. We will not be letting him go to his new home until he is a minimum 14 lbs. One thing Jagger does not like and that is to be left alone....so his forever home will have another submissive canine companion. Kids over 8 yrs old would be great...and a family who will dote on him and love him unconditionally. He may need supplements for the rest of his life, but they are not expensive and help his absorpton issues. This is a wonderful dog who should not be passed by for this reason....if you do, you will be missing a loverboy who will love you forever!

Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID

If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed.

UPDATE!!!! Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events most every Sunday at ROVER KENNELS on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Rover is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets.

Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!

Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events!

See our home page for more details about our adoptions at www.LhasaHappyHomes.org.

Thanks for thinking rescue and adoption and for considering saving a life. It will be the best gift you ever give yourself or your family.
