My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET HADDIE -

Cheers, Lassie's and Laddie's; the name's HADDIE and I am a 2.5 year old, 15.5 lb, long hair black and tan tweenie Dachshund...Even though my heritage is traditionally German, the sound of my name is more Scottish, so I thought I would start this introduction with a traditional blessing from 'across the pond.'

'Love is like a lost article; it shows up when and where you least expect it.'

Now...here's the story, 'Mr. MacRory'...I have spent my short life up until now with a wonderful family; unfortunately, they've fallen on a bit of hard times, so they have asked the kind folks at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. to find me a new, loving, forever home, perhaps with older children (over age 10). According to an old Scottish Proverb, 'Were it not for hope, the heart would break.' I have lots of hope that my new family will be wonderful...I look forward to meeting you soon.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give HADDIE a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
