Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What a good girl Colette is! She loves to please the humans, and she is respectful to children and to other dogs. She is a classic tri-colored beagle with a sleek coat, is 15" tall and weighs in at 24 lbs. The vet is guessing her age at about 5 or 6 years old. She is a quiet and polite dog.
This adorable little girl was a stray in a city shelter north of Houston, a small facility without much room and very few adoptions, so they contacted Houston Beagle Rescue to ask us to save the life of this sweetie. We were able to arrange for transporting her to our organization, and she is now here in a foster home, awaiting adoption!
Colette is spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heartworm negative and has been microchipped. She is house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on leash, and sleeps quietly all night long on a dog bed in the master bedroom along with her fellow rescued beagles and a "resident" senior beagle. Although she is good with the other dogs, she seems to prefer attention from people, including children, so she should be OK as an "only" dog for a family, as well as a quiet companion to other dogs. She is not really interested in playing with the other beagles but does hang out near to them. She has not been tested with cats.
At first, Colette was a bit shy and reserved in the foster home. She seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by her stint in the shelter and then a week in boarding at a vet clinic. She is frightened of thunder storms and will retreat to safety in a dog crate during the storm. However, now that she has been in a foster home for awhile, she has blossomed. She loves riding in the car since she discovered that it takes the beagles to fun places (including McDonald's)! She will try to sneak out into the garage whenever anyone goes out there, hoping that perhaps an adventure awaits!
Colette will make a great family member! To meet her or any of the other beagles on our website, please go to our link on adopting and follow the instructions. Someone will contact you after you have completed our application to adopt!
