Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This adorable little dog is going to melt your heart. He is such a gentle and loving little dog with big brown eyes that you just can't say "no" to. He is great with people including children of all ages, and gets along well with other pets. He is a wonderful family pet that loves running and playing in the backyard, napping on the couch (preferably in a lap), trips to the cottage and just hanging out watching tv. Mac is approximately 5 years old and currently weighs 25 lbs.
Here is what his foster family had to say about Mac:
Mac is a really sweet cuddle-bug who is most eager to please his people. His favourite thing to do is to absorb all the love he possibly can. When we come home he runs to greet us with his tail wagging. He politely sits (excitedly) and waits for pets and cuddles. All the while he is staring at us with his big brown eyes.
Mac loves to be loved and will come and nuzzle you with his little face and soft, floppy ears hoping to be invited into your lap. He loves being held like a baby, upside down, with all four paws in the air, with ears and tongue droopinging. At night, he loves sleeping in bed with his people and putting his face close to yours, without any unwanted slobber or incessant licking.
There is no shyness when meeting new people and greets everyone with a wagging tail. He's very respectful of the space of other animals and people. He will take a couple moments to cautiously meet new dogs and soon after will gladly flop over on his back and nudge his playmate to get him/her going. He loves the great outdoors and will just roam around to smell smells or nap in the sun when given the opportunity.
Mac is well behaved in the home although like most Beagles he will steal food if it is left unattended. He is very quiet in the home and has no issues with being left for up to 8 hours every day. He is not fond of being crated and he walks about as well as any Beagle on leash (just too many smells to smell). He knows some basic commands such as come and sit, and he will roll over for belly rubs. He definitely needs a fenced yard to play in and should never be off leash in an open area as he will follow his nose. He loves going on outings in the car and is very well behaved in the car making him a great traveller. He would be fine for anyone that wanted to take a dog to work as well.
Mac would be fine as an only dog in which case he'd take all the love from any human willing to give it or, he would do well as a buddy and playmate for an existing dog. He loves wrestling and tearing around the yard with another body.
A more laid back home, not in the city centre, would be ideal (loud noises can be startling). The perfect home for Miggity-miggity-miggity-Mac or Major Mac when he's fancy, is a home with a big fenced-in backyard, perhaps with someone home at least part of the time so he's not left alone for 8 hours a day, a home with another playmate who isn't too overbearing as Mac is super sweet and submissive and can easily be bullied by extremely dominant dogs, and most importantly, a home that will let him snuggle in bed, be with his humans, filled with lots of love and kisses to give for this adorable, loving sweetiepie.
If you think Mac would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
