Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There are times in rescue when we just cannot understand why a dog's owner surrendered them to a shelter. In Vixey's case, we cannot understand why someone was willing to surrender Vixey, her "boyfriend" and their four pups.
Vixey is just a terrific dog. A dachshund/wirey terrier mix, she was born around may 2013, and weighs about 20 pounds. She does well with other dogs. She loves children and people. She doesn't mind cats. She's seen a lot of the countryside around her foster home because she LOVES to ride and check out the world.
Vixey did come to rescue with a matted, medium long coat. We shaved her short so she'd be more comfortable, but she'll have a fabulous black and cream coat when it grows back out.
Vixey tested positive for Ehrlichia during routine intake bloodwork and has been treated. You can read more about Ehrlichia here: http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/glossaryterms/a/CW-Ehrlichiosis.htm
Vixey's babies are all finding their forever homes - now it's Vixey's turn. Could that be with your family?
We are a shelterless rescue, which means we do not have a physical location, so it is not possible to come to see multiple dogs at one time. Our adoption fee is $450 and includes all their vetting, including their spay/neuter, and transport up to the Northeast.***
