My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 1-year-old neutered male Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. I weigh about 14 pounds. I'm as sweet as they come! If given the opportunity, I'll crawl up into your lap and smother you with licks. If you're thinking about adopting me, I guess you should probably like dog kisses! Clearly, I'm an affectionate gentlemen, but I'm also pretty darn adorable. Just look at me! What else can I tell you about myself? Oh, right...I'm playful, inquisitive, sweet, and I get along great with other dogs! Here's a little back story on me. I was found wandering the streets and brought to a local high-kill city animal shelter. It was obvious to the shelter staff that there was something really wrong with me. At the time, I couldn't walk or even stand up! They sent me to see the vet and x-rays were taken. Most likely I had been hit by a car because I had a fractured pelvis. I was prescribed medication and put into the medical ward at the shelter. I was listed for adoption and there I waited for my new family to come along. I thought I would never get out since the public is not allowed in the medical ward. Seems silly, right?! A little time passed and I was starting to feel better physically, but I was beginning to lose hope. It had already been 26 days and nobody had adopted me! By that time, I was able to walk around just fine and I was so ready to start my new life. Then, to my surprise, I was told that I would be leaving the shelter never to return. I was a little scared since I had heard horror stories about what happens at the shelter, but my friends assured me that leaving was a good thing. I was brought to another facility, but this time there were no cages and there were lots of dogs to make friends with. I befriended some humans, too! I was immediately sent to see a specialist to be sure that I didn't need surgery and I got some really great news that day! My doctor said that I would just need some good old fashioned R & R. Now, that's all behind me and I'm all healed up and back to my normal jubilant playful happy self. You can't even tell that anything was ever wrong in the first place! I love playing with other dogs and I'm extremely affectionate with all my human friends. I'm looking for a family to call my own. So if you're seeking an amazing, sweet, loving pup, I think I'm the one for you! Please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me!!!
