Honor's Story...
This is HONOR, a dog that has been through more abuse in his young life than most dogs ever know in their lifetime. Honor was born in a Junk Yard where his mother had lived most of her life giving birth to litter after litter. Honor was treated just like the rest of the dogs that resided there. Honor was never shown a kind hand except when they hit or kicked him, never had food, relying on rocks and trash to keep him full, never hearing a kind word out of his owner except to yell at him and no shelter from the rain, snow and insects. Honor was hit by a car and was never given any medical attention and was left with a broken leg for at least 6months. When Honor could no longer walk to find food or fight the older dogs in the yard he decided to give up. Honor walked over to a trash can, laid down and prayed his suffering would end soon, But an angel was sent to him, a lady that drove by this junk yard everyday on her way to work. This lady saw Honor's mother with a new litter of pups and wanted to help them. When she stopped to ask the owner if she could have the pups she saw Honor laying over by the trash can. This lady thought he was dead and decided to go look at him, to her surprise Honor started wagging his tail and tried to open his eyes. The lady was very touched and wanted to help this sweet dog knowing that if she left him he would surely die soon. When she asked the owner about him he told her to just take him since he was no good to him now in his condition. This wonderful lady contacted us to see if we would help him. Honor has been through many surgeries for his broken leg and inverted eye lids. Honor has had surgery on his gums which were very infected and pulling away from his teeth due to a poor diet and eventually would have caused his jaw to rotten. Honor's head and body show signs where hot grease or something was thrown on him and burned his hair off. Through all of this Honor still loves people and will give lots of kisses. Honor has been blessed with a great foster mommy who has shown him what real love is and taught him what is like to live with people that really care. Honor might always have a limp, might never get all his hair back and show some scars of a horrible life but one thing is for sure, Honor has more love and forgiveness in his heart than anyone you will ever meet. The following is the write up his wonderful foster mommy has wrote about him. Honor is ready for his forever home and a family that will love him forever.

Honor is doing very well. His stamina is growing and although I don't think he will ever use his right front leg normally, he does use it. His hair has all grown back on his side, and although his tail is much more, I think his head and his back will always be bald. It doesn't seem to bother him, after all, his head has a bat-signal on it.
He has a wonderful personality; sweet, loving, playful, and when he understands, he's pretty good. He is housebroken and crate-trained, too, and will go into it on command. He needs training, being such a big boy, this is for his safety as well as his safety. He weighs over 80 lbs now. He has shown no signs of food aggression whatsoever, in fact he doesn't dive into his food anymore at all. Either he's realized that food will always be provided or he doesn't feel that nagging hunger he must've felt before. He gets 5 to 6 cups of food a day, split between morning and evening.
He LOVES playing with my dog. He cannot keep up with her, but that doesn't stop him from "wrestling" with her. He was interested in the cat, but has learned that his interest is not welcome and he usually ignores the cat. He is an alpha, requiring a strong but loving hand. He doesn't know his own strength.
His favorite evening is lying on the couch leaning up against me - with his head on my shoulder, leg, or anywhere on me.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Honor, a Hatifeld Mastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mastiff for sale in Hatifeld, or seeking a Mastiff dog from a breeder in Hatifeld.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hatifeld already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hatifeld breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mastiff breeders who help with Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hatifeld paves the way for another one to be saved.
