If you can find room in your heart to help a dog in need? Then, Western PA Sheltie Rescue needs YOU.

Foster homes are the most important part of our rescue. Every week there are dogs in need of rescue in local/regional pounds, as well as families falling on hard times that must surrender their beloved pets through no fault of their own and some just discarded without any regard for life. Without people willing to open their hearts/homes and offering their help to our organization to care for these dogs, we cannot help rescue these precious Shelties in need. Foster homes provide the love and shelter; Western PA Sheltie Rescue provides for all their medical care and whatever the foster home may need.

Unfortunately, we don't have enough foster homes for all the dogs coming
into rescue presently.
Do you think YOU ARE ONE OF THE SPECIAL HOMES that could help us in our
endeavor to rescue and foster until we can provide a new loving approved
Forever Home to these beautiful babies?
Please consider becoming a foster. You can find our Foster Application on our website at and all the pertinent information on being a Foster Home.

Let us just say that fostering is one of the most rewarding ways to
volunteer. Some people shy away from fostering because they are afraid to get too attached to the dog to give him/her up to an adopter. Isn't it far better to give a Sheltie a chance and let him/her thrive and know love (maybe the first time in it's entire life) and go off to a new loving home, rather than leave him/her to suffer in a shelter or on the streets, or even worse, euthanized for no other reason than lack of space? Our foster families think so !
Although bittersweet to see a foster Sheltie leave a foster home, the
rewards of the heart/mind knowing you helped to secure a safe new loving forever home outweighs the temporary heartache. It is such an indescribable feeling to know you did your part in giving that one sheltie the second chance at life and the HOPE they have been longing for to find their wonderful new homes; and then having a new rescue pup come in to start the process once again, giving HOPE to each one that finds rescue. One day at a time, one dog at a time !

We just need YOU to step up and take on the challenge of opening your
heart/home to a Sheltie in need.
Without foster homes, we cannot continue to bring hope and the second chance for so many pups looking to find a loving home.
Even if you have never fostered, we will help you every step of the way, to
guide you on your wonderful journey.
We're pretty sure once you start, you won't be able to stop. Ask any of our
current Foster Homes and I'm sure you will find out how
full-filling/rewarding the experience is. You'll be amazed at how much
love/care your heart can hold.

Please, go to and check out the information provided for
fostering and fill out the application and send it back to us at You won't be sorry you did and the Shelties will thank you more than you can imagine, in ways you can't imagine ! You know you want to........send that application in.
We can't wait to hear from you. Thank you !
