Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Anita, and I am one of the Mississippi Eight Bagels (Beagle/Basset mix). We were part of an abuse case in MS and had to be held at the shelter until a court date. Then when we were ready to be released no one wanted to adopt us because we were all so scared and skinny. We were pulled by my foster mom minutes before we were at death’s door… literally. Then we came to TN and our life got better. We got plenty to eat and one by one, we are getting ready for adoption by our forever family. Everyone tells me that I am a pretty girl. That my smile is contagious and makes everyone smile right back! They tell me I have the most interesting coloring on my face and that my eyes are deep and soulful. My body is shorter than a Basset, so I guess you could say I look more like a Beagle. I’m 3 or 4 years old – and weigh between 30 and 35 pounds. I love to chase and romp around the backyard with my brothers. I guess I’m kind of a tomboy. When I first meet new humans, I’m kind of shy and it may take a while for me to warm up to you, but if you have patience – I’m definitely worth it. I also like to flirt with my foster mom’s Bloodhound – makes my brothers really mad because they tend to look out for me. As you can see from my pictures, I have the cutest floppy ears that perk up when my foster mom talks to me and I try to understand what she is saying. I am crate trained and housetrained, although my foster mom does work at home, so it may take a little time to adjust to your schedule. I do okay on a leash, but could use some practice. Please won’t you consider adopting me, and if you have a really big heart and would really like 2 of us, I get along really well with my brother, Bryson. He is cute too, but not as cute as I am. However, I realize adopting 2 of us would be a big commitment, so don’t let that stop you from wanting to just adopt one of us. We completely understand. Hope to hear from you soon.
