Nixon is a beautiful boy with a long red merle coat and dreamy blue eyes. He is almost ready for his second birthday. Nixon has had the advantage of being fostered by the rescues lead trainer and has learned many useful things. Besides being potty trained, he has wonderful house manors, is crate trained, knows his basic commands and has learned to walk well on a leash. He enjoys his Chuck-it, chewing antlers and empting all the toys from the toy box. Another favorite is a nice brushing or cuddle, but then he is an Aussie.
Nixon gets along well with other dogs, is not food or toy possessive and doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He is almost the perfect dog, almost. Nixon came to us from a Wisconsin shelter where he was picked up as a stray. We have seen no signs of abuse but he must have never been exposed to people as he is very untrusting of anyone he doesn't know. Earning Nixon's trust is not easy but well worth it.
Interested adopters will need to be prepared to come and visit with him multiple times. Once you earn his trust he is a wonderful loving Velcro Aussie. Nixon is not for the first time dog owner. Nixon requires a physical fence, another socially confident dog in the home and a home without children. Nixon is neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. He is currently on heartworm preventative and frontline for flea and tick prevention. Nixon is being fostered in Northern IL. He is almost 2 years old and weighs 40lbs. Nixon requires a physicalfence and a home without children.
