Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dolly is a 3 1/2 yr spayed female, small (about 40 lbs) bc. I adopted her from the Camarillo shelter about 3 years ago because I was there getting a dog license and when I saw her I felt so sad for her. She was impounded by the county from a neglect situation, very unsocialized and unhealthy. She was in bad shape when I adopted her.
Since then, she has come a long way physically and a very long way socially. Shes a very loyal, loving girl who is an over achiever and wants to please.
When she first meets people she approaches cautiously and smells them. She soon will become more comfortable and allow them to pet her.
She lives with an old chihuahua mix, young dauchsund mix, and a large male lab mix. She's a submissive girl who eventually gets along with other animals. When she meets new dogs off leash she wants to chase and does a quick nip at them (bc behavior) but if the other dog isn't scared, they play and have fun. She is reactive to dogs when she's on leash but once she meets them she's just scared. I also have 2 cats, she isn't aggressive but likes to give them the bc stare so they run and she can chase them. Once they stop running she turns away.
She's very outdoorsy and excellent off leash. Loves the beach and doesn't mind the water and loves hiking.
She is completely house broken, crate trained, not destructive indoors or out, doesn't jump even low fences and does not have separation anxiety and does just fine when left alone while I work but she does bark at noises, when people approach the house and when she hears noises.
She doesn't do well with children because they move too quickly. Shes fine and avoids them until they run and she wants to nip their ankles. She's never nipped my ankles and loves to quietly lay next to me. Her general behavior is a kind girl who more than anything wants to please but has an underlying fear that she has already overcome so much. She is very much a border collie with her behavior.
I'm looking for a home for her because I'm not the right home for a dog like her. I adopted her to help her but border collies arent a good fit for me. She needs more attention and excercise. I go out of town often and the inconsistency of who's watching her doesn't make her happy.
There is a small re-homing fee to adopt Dolly. If you are interested in her, please contact Shannon directly at shanonandonandon@gmail.com or 805-822-7404
