My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Casper. I have quite a story to tell. I about six years old and I am a purebred white schnauzer. I have lived my whole life in a cage. All I have ever known is the puppy mill life. I am a retired breeder dog. My breeder took me, along with 12 other dogs, to the local shelter because we were no longer producing puppies and making money. I have had limited contact with humans, and therefore, I am slow to warm up to people. I received AWFUL care while I was living with the breeder. When I was rescued by PPAWSS, my whole fur was matted at least an inch thick all the way down to the skin. I could not see because all of the matts around my face. After a LONG grooming session, I am all cleaned up and I can actually see the world now! I only weigh 9 pounds, and I should weigh at least 15. I am very malnurished, but PPAWSS is slowing helping me put my weight back on. After my check-up, PPAWSS learned I am Heartworm Free! Whew, what a relief. I have no major health issues that they know of. I got neutered on 3-7-08, and therefore I am OFFICIALLY retired! I am ready to settle down in a very quiet household. I will need a family that has no children. I am not housebroken and I have only known to use the restroom in my crate. I need a very patient and loving family to help me adjust to the homelife. I love chewing on rawhides, they help keep me occupied while you are gone. I pace in my kennel and I am nervous while you are gone. I would prefer a family that could spend alot of time with me and didn't work long hours. I will need months of recovery from the terrible things I have endured. I am not your average housedog. My adoption fee is 150.00. If you think you can open your home up to me and show me what love really is, please fill out an application today! The sooner I go home with someone, the sooner I can get on the road to recovery.

*********UPDATE********* I am putting on weight at a healthy rate. My fur is starting to grow out a little bit. I have been eating Science Diet dog food and it is helping my skin and coat tremendously. I am doing VERY well at crate training. I go days without an accident. I am socializing with the other dogs very well. I have shown a little bit of interest in toys, but I am still a little unsure about what to do with them. I am finally learning how to be a DOG! I am ready to go home today. If you think you can help me finish my recovery, please fill out an application today!!
