My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Mini-Labrador Retriever
Age: 1-2 years
Weight: 20 pounds
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Not Tested
Good with kids: Older
Energy Level: Medium

When Casper was brought to the shelter from Animal Control, he was pinned to the back of his crate. He was beyond scared and was uncertain about his future. Rightfully so! They struggled to get his intake photo because he would barely look a the camera. It was that photo that touched our hearts. We knew this little boy has something to give the world and to a family... lot's of love. He wants to learn that humans are nice. His is a little scared right now, so going into a home with children might be too much for him. This boy will have puppy-face forever. If you want to show Casper what it's like to be loved and to have a life, please contact Malana at malanadoubledogrescue@gmail.com

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
