My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Greater Swiss Mnt. Dog/ Black and Tan Coonhound
Age: 7 months
Weight: 34 pounds
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Curious - playful
Good with kids: Yes - but he is still a puppy. And puppies are mouth. Will need savvy parents who educate their children how to treat a pup and who will train the dog properly
Energy Level: Med-High - Puppies have high energy.

Thornton came in with his brother. He was a scared little boy and would cower only to get his intake photo taken. Since then he has been socialized and taken outdoors to explore what the world is like. He engages in puppy play and loves to be around his brother and other dogs. He was suspicious of squeaky toys at first and wasn't really wild about playing with them. He'd jump forward, but then turn around scared. It wasn't until he watched the other dogs play with the toys was when he partook in the fun. He's a lovable little guy and has a tail that will take out anything on a coffee table. He's a happy little guy and loves as much attention as possible.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
