My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABBY is a 7 year old AKC spayed spayed female Lab who weighs 62 pounds. She's 7 and has the energy of a 3 year old, she loves to play and be with people. She is a ball nut and loves her orange bumper which she will retrieve until your arm falls off. Plays well with other dogs but would prefers to be an only dog at home as she likes to be the center of attention as she found out that she loves it. She knows the following commands: down, drop it, ball come. She's crate trained and was an inside-outside dog, outside more in the last couple of years so she needs some refresher training . Abby would not do well in a city environment or an apartment/condo/townhouse. She's approved for kids aged 10+.

Abby was an owner turn in to shelter as due to moving. While at the shelter she qualified to participate in the shelter dog Dock Dog jump at Hampton Bay Days, her foster is taking her over to see how she can do more later today.

From her foster: Abby has a constant smile on her face. She is very friendly, likes to follow her people around so she doesn’t miss anything, and loves to play. he likes to retrieve – toys, balls, pretty much anything you will throw and will bring it back and most times will drop or give it to you. She often initiates play with the resident dog and today met several dogs in the neighborhood with no problems.

As you’d expect with a lab, Abby likes attention, likes to be petted, thinks she’s a lapdog, will show off her lab crawl when playing with other dogs, and likes to curl up with her human at night. She rides well in the car – likes to look out the back window to see what’s going on, and also enjoys water – she’ll chomp at the water coming out of the hose, or will swim in the pool. She walks well on an EZ Walk harness and could be a good walking or running buddy. She’ll also crate easily for a treat and often carries around a toy. She’s a bit of a goofball and would like to be someone’s devoted companion.
