Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Please meet Bruce! Bruce came to us as owner surrender, but we don’t know a whole lot about his background. He is a very handsome white & tan 6 year old English bulldog, who weighs around 60 pounds. When he came into BBR’s care he was a hot mess: Poor guy had a badly infected tail that needed amputated, very stenotic nares, teeth needing extracted, flea infestation, yeasty skin, and mild entropian. He’s now all fixed up and ready for his furever home!
Bruce is a pretty calm bullie who really likes his naps, and his favorite pastime is snuggling on the couch. He also loves car rides, walks, and basking in the sun. He still needs some work walking on the leash because he is very strong and sometimes thinks he should lead the way. Bruce loves the bathtub, so you won’t have a hard time getting this handsome guy squeaky clean - he loves to hop in the bathtub even if you don’t want him there. He loves to be around his people and will follow you from room to room; he really likes to be where you are because he spent a lot of time alone in his past life.
Bruce likes to play with chew toys, and he does have some excitable spurts for toys, new people, or attention. Bruce shows some toy aggression and jealousy over human attention when around other dogs, so it would be best if he is the only dog in the home; however he does do well with cats. Sometimes he will jump out of excitement, especially when his foster mom first gets home. Because Bruce can get excited and jump, he will need to go to a home with children 8 years old and above. We wouldn’t want him knocking a little one over by accident.
Bruce has proven to be a bit of a “MacGyver” when being gated in the kitchen in his foster home, and has found his way out… if you gate him in an area, his foster mom suggests putting some chairs behind the gate and that foils his escape attempts. He does not like to be crated so we do not recommend the use of them for Bruce.
Bruce still has some minor housebreaking issues, and needs to do his #2 business within an hour or so of eating. He is mostly housebroken though, just likes to mark sometimes.
Bruce is up to date on his shots and neutered. Please consider opening up your heart and giving Bruce his loving furever home.
Adoption donation for Bruce is $450. You can learn more about Bruce and apply to adopt him here: www.buckeyebulldogrescue.org/bruce.html
