Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ace is a Take Me Home courtesy post. Ace is not affiliated with Take Me Home. He is not under our care. Take Me Home is not responsible for any adoptions through private parties. For more information on Ace please contact Saldju at saldjut@yahoo.com.
Ace is a sweet, loving Pit Bull mix who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in the nick of time.
Ace is about 2 years old and in good health. He weighs 50-60 Lbs, is neutered, house trained, crate trained, de-wormed, all shots current, micro-chipped. He is described as smart, sensitive and affectionate. He definitely loves people and dislikes being alone. He appear to be dog friendly, but no cats. He's not rambunctious, and leash manners are good - although he could still benefit from some additional training .
Ace was rescued from the San Bernardino shelter with one day left to live. When he was picked up, he had kennel cough, fresh scars on the face and neck, and was underweight. We are not sure what his history was, but we suspect he was neglected and left alone in a back yard with aggressive dogs. At first he didn't know how to play with toys or chew bones and had never slept in a bed. When he was first given a proper dog bed, he wouldn't even step on it.
He was confused and frightened on the first night; whimpered in his crate until his rescuer kept him company. Once he became accustomed to the new environment, he became expressive and playful. He loves to cuddle and follows his person everywhere. Also he likes to hang out when there are visitors and dislikes being left alone in the house or back yard. He sleeps in a crate with cushy mat and blankets.
We think he'd thrive with an active single/couple devoted to him or a large family or maybe another big dog (female) to play with. When his foster's chi mix got aggressive with him, he just walked away. He does get excited, not aggressive, when he sees other dogs. He has a bit of a prey drive so we don't recommend small dogs and definitely no cats. His foster took him to a restaurant once, and he was well behaved. He just sat quietly and wagged his tail as people approached to pet him.
Sadly, his foster's dog does not get along with Ace (not Ace's fault), so we have to find a new home or foster for Ace as soon as possible.
